Municipal Court Warrants in Jasper County
A municipal court warrant is an order from a city or town case. Jasper County no longer fits that model. Indiana's Odyssey court list shows two current courts in Jasper County: Jasper Circuit Court 37C01 and Jasper Superior Court 37D01. No Jasper County municipal or town court appears there. Criminal and traffic cases in Jasper County belong to those courts and the Jasper County Clerk. Old local cases can still exist. Check the court named on your paper against current state information before you act on anything. Miss a setting, and the court may issue a bench warrant or another order. Terms matter as well. Jasper County sources do not use “capias pro fine” as a local term. Watch the civil side too. A Small Claims case can produce a body attachment, an arrest order for missing a Rule to Show Cause hearing, and in Jasper County that is not a criminal municipal warrant.
Jasper Town Courts Closed
DeMotte Town Court, code 37I01, was abolished on December 31, 2019. Wheatfield Town Court, code 37I02, is gone too. Current Indiana Odyssey court information lists it as abolished. A Jasper County warrant question no longer goes to either town. Neither old code is an open warrant desk. Closed courts still leave open files. The Jasper County Clerk can trace where a surviving case was transferred and which court holds it now. Have the old cause number and town-court code ready. Add the name and an approximate date. Ask for the court that handles the case today, not the old name a web result shows.
Myth and fact: An old town-court web page is not proof of a current Jasper County municipal warrant counter or live court.
Which Cities Have Municipal Courts
The five largest incorporated places in Jasper County are Rensselaer, DeMotte, Remington, Morocco, and Wheatfield. None runs a municipal court today. City and town police still answer local calls and can help serve a warrant. Court authority, though, sits with the county.
| Place | Verified Court Position | Current Route | Phone |
|---|---|---|---|
| Rensselaer | No municipal court found | Jasper Clerk, Circuit or Superior Court | 219-866-4926 |
| DeMotte | Town Court 37I01 abolished | County Clerk and MyCase | 219-866-4926 |
| Remington | No municipal court found | County Clerk and MyCase | 219-866-4926 |
| Morocco | No municipal court found | County Clerk and MyCase | 219-866-4926 |
| Wheatfield | Town Court 37I02 abolished | County Clerk and MyCase | 219-866-4926 |
For traffic matters, the Jasper County clerk line is 219-866-4909; for Small Claims body-attachment questions, call 219-866-4913.
Wheatfield's Legacy Warrant Trap
Wheatfield's town site still carries a “procedures and fines” page pointing to a town-court docket and courtroom conduct rules. The state says that court is abolished. Trust the current directory instead. Confirm anything with the Jasper County Clerk. That legacy Wheatfield page is a good example of why a page's date and court status matter before you rely on it in a warrant search.

The page proves nothing about a live court. It does not show that Wheatfield collects fines or takes surrenders in Jasper County today.
How to Check a Municipal Court Warrant
Jasper County has no city-court warrant lookup. Every workable route starts with the current county case and ends with direct confirmation from the clerk or court.
- Read the court name and case number on the citation, notice, or prior order.
- Search MyCase by cause number or name, using 37C01 or 37D01 when the current Jasper court is known.
- Call the Jasper County Clerk at 219-866-4926. Use 219-866-4909 for traffic or 219-866-4913 for Small Claims.
- Call sheriff administration at 219-866-4950 or 219-866-4987, or dispatch at 219-866-7344, for service and holding-agency routing.
- Submit the sheriff's written APRA request when a public sheriff record is needed and is not online.
Indiana runs no statewide public criminal-warrant search. IDACS serves criminal-justice agencies only, and MyCase is a court portal rather than a full warrant database for Jasper County.
Jasper Court Codes Route Warrants
A current Jasper County case number begins with 37. Circuit Court cases use 37C01. Superior Court cases use 37D01. The former town courts carried the “I” designation, 37I01 for DeMotte and 37I02 for Wheatfield. Those codes help the clerk find a transferred or historical file, but they cannot turn a closed court into a live one.
- 37C01
- Current Jasper Circuit Court code.
- 37D01
- Current Jasper Superior Court code.
- 37I01
- Former DeMotte Town Court code, abolished in 2019.
- 37I02
- Former Wheatfield Town Court code, now abolished.
- Recall
- The issuing court withdraws an arrest order. Payment or a web update is not a substitute for court confirmation.
See 37I01 or 37I02 on an old document? Give the Jasper County Clerk the whole cause number, keeping the court code, year, and case type intact.
What a Municipal Court Warrant Shows
No live city-warrant portal exists here. A court or clerk file in Jasper County can still supply the core facts a warrant record usually carries. Check each one against the active file.
| Cause Number | A number such as a live 37C01 or 37D01 case, or a former town code requiring transfer research. |
|---|---|
| Named Person | The legal name tied to the case; date of birth may help search but is not displayed by MyCase. |
| Underlying Matter | Traffic, criminal, ordinance, contempt, or another case type shown by the court record. |
| Issuing Court | The court with power to change the warrant, schedule a hearing, or approve recall. |
| Bond or Terms | Current instructions from the issuing court, not a guessed fine or general schedule. |
| Status | Active, served, or recalled only when confirmed by the court or holding agency. |
MyCase can leave warrant data out. A “closed case” label in Jasper County also will not explain every order's status.
City Police and Jasper Warrants
In Jasper County, city and town police can arrest or help execute a warrant, but they never replace the issuing court. Rensselaer Police runs its own public-safety work. DeMotte Police keeps a department and an anonymous tip line. Remington lists a police non-emergency number. Wheatfield routes every police call through Jasper County dispatch. Morocco's town site posts no detailed police warrant channel. An October 2024 sheriff release describes warrants from Jasper Superior Court executed by the Jasper County Sheriff together with DeMotte Police. That is coordination, nothing more. It does not create a DeMotte court or a public warrant roster anywhere in Jasper County. Names and case details from that operation stay in the court file. The warrants themselves came from Jasper Superior Court.
Resolving a Municipal Court Warrant
The issuing court decides how a municipal warrant ends. Call first. Jasper County lists no dedicated warrant counter or set self-surrender procedure at its courthouse, police stations, or jail. Before you travel, confirm the warrant is still active, ask whether bond has been set, whether a judge must approve any recall, and exactly where your appearance belongs.
- Confirm the cause number and present issuing court with the Jasper County Clerk.
- Ask whether the court requires an appearance, payment, bond, attorney filing, or another act.
- Confirm any service or custody plan through the sheriff before arriving.
- Complete the court-directed step and keep the receipt or filed order.
- Ask the clerk to confirm recall and whether the underlying case stays open.
Warning: A payment, blank MyCase result, or old city page does not prove that a Jasper County warrant has been recalled.
Jasper Body Attachments Differ
A civil body attachment is a different animal. In Jasper County it can come out of the Jasper Circuit Court Small Claims Division after a person misses a Rule to Show Cause hearing. The county's 2026 Small Claims Manual calls it an arrest order used in a civil contempt process. Jasper also publishes a body-attachment motion and a recall form. That recall form has the party state the contempt has been purged, which means the required act was finally done. None of this is a municipal criminal warrant. Sorting the paper before you call saves real time. A body attachment goes to Small Claims at 219-866-4913, with the case number handy. A traffic citation belongs with the traffic clerk instead. A Circuit or Superior criminal case runs through its own court division. Getting the record type straight first keeps a Morocco, Remington, DeMotte, Rensselaer, or Wheatfield resident from being bounced to a court that does not hold the case.
